The historic Michigan Bell Building in Detroit, has been acquired by Focus Hope and Neighborhood Service Organization, two nationally known community service providers. Renovation plans for the Art Deco landmark include extensive landscaping, roof terraces, large green roofs and storm water management. A showcase for sustainable building practices in the area, the project combines green building technology and sustainable landscapes in a facility designed to serve and empower the people living in the local community. An overall vision of joining innovative sustainable technologies with opportunities for learning and connecting people to related green jobs training is the foundation for realizing a strong locally based renaissance of the surrounding East Oakman Neighborhood.  Kenneth Weikal Landscape Architecture
