A seven acre woodland, preserved at the heart of the Hickory Chase campus, includes large oaks and shagbark hickory trees providing beautiful parkland
and important native habitat for local species. The landscaped courtyards and pocket parks through-out the campus are themed to highlight the assets
of this large native Ohio woodlot. The formerly flat site has been contoured and sculpted to create pond habitat and small lakes that are integrated
into the overall stormwater management system for the property. Along the southern property line, 2200 lineal feet of native stream corridor, used
until recently as a farm drainage ditch, have been repopulated with native riparian species and developed to improve water quality and wildlife habitat.
