At Laurel Chase, the stream valley and wet forest on the eastern side of the property have been left intact and preserved in their natural states.
The campus layout is carefully designed to minimize disturbance of the preserved natural areas. Six foot chain link fencing and close onsite observation
during the construction period are important parts of the process to protect these existing amenities, which are prominent features of the major building
courtyards. In addition, a storm water management system uses captured storm water to supply the minimal irrigation system. What was
once old farm pasture are now part of the green space system on the campus and have been planted as wildflower meadows to not only add
beauty, but reduce mowing, irrigation needs, fertilizers and pesticides.
