Marywood Nursing Center is part of the larger Felician Sisters Campus in Livonia, Michigan. In response to a building addition and renovation,
Deak Planning + Design and KWLA proposed re-thinking the current landscape which required extensive maintenance. Envisioning an enhancement of the grounds,
integrating visual quality, streamlined maintenance and environmental concerns, the new landscape proposal includesmany sustainable practices. Water gardens,
conversion of acres of mowed lawn to native meadows and no-mow areas, rainwater collection, use of native and drought resistant plants, organic
fertilizers and the discontinued use of pesticides all contribute to a renewed and healthier landscape.
