At the Sedgebrook Senior Living Campus, a flat soybean field was sculpted to form a new 21 acre lake to assist in the storm water management of
the adjacent Des Plaines River. Wetland and Illinois prairie have been established around the perimeter of the lake with special attention paid to optimizing
the environment to sustain marsh and meadow species. Bio swales have been designed to catch and filter and allow the infiltration of runoff from
parking lots at the southern portion of the site. The KWLA maintenance schedule specifies organic fertilizers and composting to maintain soil fertility through out the landscape.
